Lest we forget. All we are is divine. Let’s use our wisdom, understanding and skills unto the Lord and be the change we want to see in this world. Let us not bury what has been given to us freely.
We are given Divine qualifications to do the divine will of God. We are wise to contrive, diligent to execute, and able also to teach and help others.
We all have distinguished abilities, zeal, and knowledge, wisdom, to truly fulfill our calling and life purpose at any level.
Whatever we have learnt in school or anywhere else, if we are not using the skills, knowledge, understanding, truth to bring solutions, help people, speak truth, teach others, co-create then we become as useless as the candle under a bushel.
There she was as she stepped in the room, hands on heels, carrying the general’s bags excited to be the perfect host at the Cavier 7 Star hotel, abode the VIP lift reserved only for renowned dignitaries.
Here you are sir. Enjoy the presidential suite. Call me if you need anything. She added, with her melodious voice, enough to dethrone a king. But her voice, was not her only captivating asset, her enchanting angelic smile too was one to melt hearts, and her curvaceous melanin coloured self, must have been the reason God took a long time to create this female figure the General, thought to himself.
The General smirked as he moved closer, salivating like a starved canine, but masked with authority written all over his demeanor. Over the years, he had learnt to hide his defect as a molester with his uniform. He smiled and laughed, actions that often revealed the uglyiness in him. His laughter, was not loud but enough to exhume and pollute the room with his power.
In his presence, the scent of wild cider overpowered the room. His uniform, perfectly pressed and crisp, smelled of batik fabric, soaked in leather, but softened in starch. And then, he majestically moved past Jessy, and click, the door was shut, click again, the latch was set and that was when Jessy’s naive mind, fathomed the magnitude of the danger lurking in this suite.
Her supervisor had always assigned her this role as hostess to official guests, who regularly stayed in the hotel. The first time she saw the presidential suite, she fantasized using this presidential suite perhaps on her honeymoon, as she had imagined her prince charming lifting her from the door, into this inviting room……But anyway I digress…)
The general was in this presidential room today not because he deserved it, or not because he could afford it but due to a corrupt deal that he was arm twisting the owners, over a dispute on a cargo, that was expected from Juba in South Sudan.
Then the steps, the overwhelming smell of woody scented cologne mixed with cuban cigar and the smell of batik, moved closer and closer in no hurry, for what in the world could interfere with this moment, all details fully planned by the general and the two uniformed men just outside the door.
It was then that Jessy felt a cold, hard element touch her bare arms. Momentarily, she was confused- what she had initially imagined would be hot, hard and alert, was instead cold, as it moved up her arms through her neck and touched her lips. As it moved closer to her nose, is when she knew… oh my, she felt and smelled the metallic object close to her nose and her mind started racing realizing the gun and the general…her painful mortality was just round the corner.
The gun that had taken her papa, her entire family, her village. The gun she had fled to freedom all those years back, through the upper Nile and out of South Sudan through the Ruwenzori in Uganda and eventually landed in Kenya.
The General, Kosidole Oyuk Ogit, had made his point and made her know that power was in the house, he publicised his Authority, only that this time, there was no public, But little Jessy, totally shaken… almost shitting her pants, – only that before the General arrived she had asked her supervisor for a quick bathroom break.
The feelings in her were raw, the pounding of the heart, the goosebumps on her delicate skin, as she closed her eyes, not wanting to see the terror before her. She waited in silence, holding her breath, tightening her muscle, as her stomach summersaulted inside of her, as she waited for the sound of the cork…. Cork.. Cork……(To be Continued).
